This is an original oil on canvas measures 50cm x 60cm and is in a gold ornate swept frame.*
Within this painting I explore bringing together the two elements of figurative painting I enjoy, tropical birds and portraiture. I have taken the head from the peacock to resemble headwear on this figure, who adopts the same colours as the peacock.
Some say the composition reminds them of the famous painting by Johannes Vermeer, Girl with the pearl earrings, other remark on the influences of Chinese Girl by Vladimir Tretchikoff.
*the frame was damaged and has been repaired, the glass is non reflective.
