The Quiet Showman
There’s something rather dignified about this one.
A little stern, a little theatrical, and very much aware of his own importance.
He arrived quietly, but as he’s taken shape he’s become one of those characters who seems to hold himself with a kind of ceremony — as though he’s waiting for the performance to begin, but only when he decides the time is right.
At the moment, I’m calling him The Quiet Showman… though I suspect whoever eventually adopts him may have ideas of their own.
That’s one of my favourite things about these paintings.
They begin with me, but they often become more themselves once they find their person.
This one is ready to leave the studio and begin that part of the story.
